2007 Lexus IS350

The Lexus IS 250 and IS 350 sport sedans are quick, responsive and fun to drive. Designed to compete with BMW 3 Series sedans, the Lexus IS models are built on rear-wheel-drive chassis tuned for sporty handling. They stick in corners and stop with authority, aided by high-performance brakes and tires.

The IS 350 is propelled with authority as well, benefitting from a 306-hp V6. These are enjoyable and easy cars to drive. The IS 350's VDIM electronic stability control steps in very early to keep the driver out of trouble. The IS 250 AWD model's all-wheel drive makes it a good sports sedan for the Snow Belt. The automatic transmissions are responsive and feature paddle shifters for semi-manual control.

All of them look sporty, with bulging muscles and a purposeful stance. All come loaded with features and are trimmed well, with leather upholstery. A full complement of passive and active safety features comes standard.

New for 2007 is the X-Package, which combines a sports suspension and 18-inch alloy wheels with a bold front spoiler, sport pedals, and illuminated door scuff plates. Also, the electronic stability programs can be disabled by turning off the traction control. Lexus says this might be useful when trying to extricate the car from snow, and in other situations as well.

There is not a sex video of Kevin and Britney in existence

Kevin Federline's attorney is denying reports that Federline is trying to sell a sex tape he allegedly made with estranged wife Britney Spears.

"There is not a sex video of Kevin and Britney in existence," Federline's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, says in a statement issued.

It goes without saying that the stories of Kevin attempting to sell such a video are patently false and anyone who reports that they have information of such attempts is either lying or reporting the lie of someone else," he said.

Tara Conner will continue her reign as Miss USA 2006

Rumors swirled on the Web Thursday that Tara Conner, Kentucky's Miss USA, would be stripped of her crown.

The gossip started after an entertainment Web site, TMZ.com, reported that pageant officials met to discuss alleged inappropriate behavior, including Conner's conduct at bars.

Conner's father, John Conner, said Thursday that he thinks his daughter "absolutely" will continue to be Miss USA.

"I just know what's on the media," he said, adding that he had not talked to his daughter as of midday Thursday. "I'm proud of my daughter and I stand by her 100 percent."

He said he had "no idea" what personal issues his daughter might be having.

Tara Conner, 20, of Russell Springs, was crowned Miss USA in April and was fourth runner-up in the Miss Universe pageant on July 23. She has worked with organizations benefiting women's health, served as a guest judge on Bravo's fashion reality show Project Runway and appeared on the University of Kentucky's hockey poster, wearing only a jersey and her crown.

December 19, 2006 ; Donald J. Trump said on a statement: ''Tara Conner will continue her reign as Miss USA 2006. However, her duties will be limited as she receives the help she needs during this personal time. We are pleased that Tara will continue to be a part of Miss Universe family and will continue her responsibilities at the appropriate time''.

Winterize your skin

(NC)-Show your skin some TLC this winter. Cold, dry air and indoor heating can rob your skin of essential moisture and lead to dry, cracked, itchy and uncomfortable skin. Sarah Tattersall, winter survival specialist from 3M Canada, offers the following guidelines to keep your skin healthy and happy this winter:

Moisturize early and often: Regularly apply a heavy moisturizer like Nexcare advanced skin cream several times daily to seal in the moisture and replenish rough, cracked or scaly skin.

Cracked - but not broken: If the skin around your hands and nails tends to crack, brush-on polymers like Nexcare skin crack care is like an emergengy first aid kit for your hands. Simply brush it on to create a protective coating to help your hands breathe and heal.

Cold and flu defense: Most cold and flu viruses are spread by direct contact so it's important to wash your hands thoroughly several times a day. An antibacterial gel like 3M's Avagard-D, is an effective and hygienic alternative to soap and water to ward off germs and bacteria.

Don't forget the sunscreen: While it may feel cold outside, snow reflects sunlight, doubling the damaging effect of the rays. Wear sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 15 at all times when outside.

Santo Domingo is a must see

(NC)-Santo Domingo, founded by Christopher Columbus's brother Bartholomew is one of the great historic and cultural treasures of the world, and a "must see"...

Christopher Columbus, built his first settlement in the new world, in the Dominican Republic, and in Santo Domingo, you can visit the 20-room mansion where his son Diego and his descendents lived, on the oldest street in the Western Hemisphere. Its Zona Colonia, named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1990, has been restored to its original splendour. Walk the streets that all the famous pirates, explorers, and buccaneers, who were here in the 16th century, tramped on. Hernan Cortes, Ponce de Leon, Sir Francis Drake and the list goes on.

There are a whole lot of firsts in the city.

You can visit the oldest cathedral that Sir Francis Drake ransacked, the first university, the ruins of the first hospital, even the oldest military building in the Americas. When the kids get tired of seeing all this "old stuff", take them to Acuario Nacional (National Aquarium), and when they tire of that, right across from the National Aquarium, is a water park, perfect to cool off after a day of sightseeing.

Baseball is THE sport here, and going to a game is not to be missed. Santo Domingo's two professional teams play at the Estado Quisqueya.

This is a city of music; merengue, bachata, and salsa, you'll hear it everywhere.

And yes of course there are all-inclusive resorts close by to pamper the whole family.

Down the Highway 3, about 50 kilometres are three Barceló all-inclusive resorts. Barceló is a chain that Canadians return to over and over again.

The 433 room, 31/2* Barceló Talanquera Beach Resort is perfect for families, with lots of beach activities, five pools - two for kids, and a kids' club for the 4-12 set. There's a certified dive centre, lots of deep dive sites, a long chain of sea caves and sea channels to explore.

The 500 room, 41/2 * Barceló Capella Beach Resort, beachfront on Villas Del Mar Beach is just five minutes from an 18-hole championship golf course. You can walk to shops and restaurants. It too has a kids' club.

Across a laneway from the beach and the Barceló Capella Beach Resort is the 31/2+* Barceló Colonia Tropical. With just 40 rooms, it's a cosy property loved by many people in the travel industry because it is small and intimate. You'll have access to the facilities of the Barceló Capella Beach Resort. There's also a casino nearby.

Nolitours has packages flying there from both Toronto and Montreal.

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline sex tape

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline reportedly fear a steamy home sex video is about to be made public. A member of the singer's entourage is believed to have copied one of the couple's personal video tapes - allegedly recorded while Britney was still expecting baby son Sean Preston - and is threatening to release it.

A source told America's Us Weekly magazine: "He has threatened to release raunchy footage of the two taken before Spears looked pregnant."

During her pregnancy, Britney confessed her sex life was the best it had ever been. The sexy singer insisted her bedroom romps with husband Kevin had been red hot since she conceived.

She confessed at the time: "I think it's the best. Sex is crazy good."Britney also stunned viewers on her reality TV show, Chaotic, after she was shown begging Kevin for sex.

The blonde babe, who was not married to former dancer Kevin when the footage was shot, brands the couple's bedroom antics "so good" before begging her 26-year-old lover to let her take the day off from her Onyx hotel tour last year "to just fuck all day."

The Toxic singer then turned her attention to the sex lives of her staff and crew - quizzing them about their favourite sexual positions.

Playa del Carmen Mexique

Area Information

The once sleepy village of Playa del Carmen doubled twice in population in the last few years, mainly due to Europeans who discovered the alabaster-white beaches, gentle surf, coral reefs and slow lifestyle were the equal of the more expensive island of Cozumel just across the straits. Playa's dock is the pier for the 'people ferry' to Cozumel, so it's only a short trip over to snorkel or dive on Cozumel's incredible coral reefs. The strong foriegn influence has created a unique vagabond traveler ambiance. Numerous outrageously delicious restaurants provide sustenance and several foreign-owned hotels raise the standards of service to exacting levels. Combine that with a relaxed Mexican-Caribbean feeling and a sprinkling of American free- spirits and you've got Playa. It's definitely not the place to 'get away,' but it is a place to enjoy marvelous beaches by day and a lively nightlife in the evening. The mix of backpackers, archeological buffs and New Age sun worshippers makes Playa very interesting and worth some time. Getting Around To get to Playa, 68 km (42 miles) south of Cancun, take a bus from the station downtown (about 1 1/2 hours). If you're in the hotel zone, you could negotiate a fare with a Cancun taxi driver to scoot you down. The main road into town, Av. Juarez or Av. Principal, depending on whom you ask, leads you right to the ferry dock and the pedestrian-only 5th Avenue, running perpendicular to the beach. It boasts many hotels, stores and restaurants. The bus station is right there at Av. 5 and Juarez and is a hub for further journeys down to Tulum, Chetumal and Belize. Many hotels are within easy walking distance from the bus and the street in front of the station is full of men on large yellow tricycles (triciclos), who will ride you and/or your luggage cheaply to your hotel in a Mexican version of a rickshaw. If your hotel isn't close or you have to go on the back streets of Playa, get a cab right there. In 1994, in response to the growing popularity of the town, the streets were torn up for sewer and water lines. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough money left to repave them. Consequently, many of the new streets look as if the American Air Force has been using them as target practice with 500 lb smart bombs. The water-filled potholes in the unpaved roads outside of the oldest part of town make traffic crawl and require zig-zagging to the max. A stroll on the beach leads to Playa's attractive lighthouse (faro), where you can climb its exterior circular cement staircase to the top. The view is excellent and provides a great photo op.

Travel Information

Practicalities The post office is three blocks back from the beach on Av. Principal, with the police station (9/87-3-02-91) right next door and the Centro de Salud Medical Center across the street. You'll find Tourism information on Av. 5 near the central plaza. Several hotels rent bicycles, but get a mountain bike to dodge the water-filled cenote-like potholes and sandy streets. The majority of the banks are located on Av. Juarez, most have an ATM. (ATMs disperse mexican pesos). Recently Banamex opened another branch on the corner of Ave. 10 and Calle 12, also boasting an ATM. Check or ask around as new banks and cash machines are popping up daily. There are several Money Exchanges (Casa de Cambios) located in Playa, so exchanging money should not be a problem. Exchange rate can vary daily and from place to place. Most shops and restaurants will accept american dollars. There are plenty of 'minisupers' (corner grocery stores) and fruit shops located in Playa, as well as a few 'large' supermarkets (Super San Francisco being the most popular due to its location on 30th). Some supermarkets also accept credit/debit cards. The ferry to Cozumel has a schedule that changes constantly. If you're going over, just ask about times at any of the ticket booths scattered around the plaza. Try to get a ticket on the WJ Mexico, a fast waterjet (25 minutes). The Xel-H or Cozumelero takes 45 minutes. For shopping, the stores of Playa's Av. 5 and surrounding sidestreets offer an eclectic assortment of hand-made pottery, arts and crafts both local and from all over Mexico, gifts and New Age paraphernalia.

Adventures

Most of Playa's activities involve the water - the beaches are fabulous for swimming, snorkeling, or diving. There are numerous dive shops around. Try the Tank Ha (Ha means water in Mayan) dive shop at the Maya Bric Hotel. The Abyss Dive Shop at the Blue Parrot Inn - Calle 12 North on the Beach offers a variety of dives geared to meet each divers needs: from beginners to experts. Golf is available in Playacar on an 18-hole course designed by Robert Von Hagge. Beachcombers could hike north and make a whole day of it, relaxing in one or two beachside restaurants along the way. Wear a hat and much sunscreen.

Bugatti Veyron

Performance

The W16 produces 1001 metric horsepower, equivalent to 987 SAE net horsepower or 736 kW. This would easily make it the most powerful production road-car engine in history, were it to reach production. Torque is 1250 N·m (922 ft·lbf). According to Volkswagen, the final production Veyron engine produces between 1020 and 1040 metric horsepower (1006 to 1026 SAE net hp), so the car will be advertised as producing "1001 horsepower" in both the US and European markets.

Top speed was initially promised to be 252 mph (406 km/h), but test versions were unstable at that speed, forcing a redesign of the aerodynamics. In May, 2005, a prototype Veyron tested at a Volkswagen track near Wolfsburg, Germany, and recorded a top speed of 248.5 mph (400 km/h). The production model has now been tested and reached a top speed of 407 km/h.

The Veyron is the fastest production car to reach 100 km/h with a time of 2.5 seconds. It also reaches 200 and 300 km/h in 7.3 and 16.7 seconds respectively. This makes the Veyron the quickest-accelerating production vehicle in history. It is not the most efficient vechicle in history however, using 40.4 l/100 km in city driving and 24.1 l/100 km in combined cycle.

Specifications

The Veyron features a W16 engine—16 cylinders in 4 banks of 4 cylinders, or two W8 engines mated together in line. Each cylinder has 4 valves, for a total of 64, but the narrow W8 configuration allows two camshafts to drive two banks of cylinders so only 4 camshafts are needed. The engine is fed by four turbochargers, and it displaces 8.0 L (7,993 cm³/488 in³) with a square 86 by 86 mm bore and stroke.

Putting this power to the ground is a dual-clutch DSG computer-controlled manual transmission with 7 gear ratios. The Veyron also features full-time all wheel drive, necessary given the output of the engine. Special Michelin PAX System run-flat tires, capable of running at 250 mph (402.3 km/h), are fitted.

The car's wheelbase is 2700 mm (106.3 in). Overall length is 4466 mm (175.8 in). It measures 1998 mm (78.7 in) wide and 1206 mm (47.5 in) tall.

Rental Car 10 things your company won't teel you

1. "We're a tax magnet."As with the rest of the travel industry, business is up for car rentals and expected to climb even higher after having remained fairly flat for several years. But customers are already paying more, due to an unprecedented slew of taxes and fees.

However, that extra money doesn't go to the rental car companies but into city and state coffers, where it's used to fund municipal projects. For example, in 2005, car rentals in Arlington, Texas, were hit with a 5% tax to help pay for the new Dallas Cowboys stadium. Car rentals get tapped as fundraisers because local politicians won't feel the repercussions at the voting booth. "They're taxing people who are flying in from someplace else," says Hertz spokesperson Richard Broome. "These people can't and don't vote locally, so there's no harm for them."

But there's a way for consumers to dodge some of these fees: Pick up your car in town, not at the airport. Last year Travelocity found that taxes and fees were 45% lower for off-airport rentals. An added bonus, according to Neil Abrams, president of Abrams Consulting, is that you'll save on rates, too: On average, they're $10 cheaper per day in town.

2. "We track your every move."Over the past few years, rental agencies have begun to install GPS devices in their vehicles. These units allow companies to track cars that are lost or stolen. But the technology also lets them know when a renter has been speeding or has taken a car into another state, which may be construed as increasing wear and tear. "Opportunity for a rental car operator to impose geographic limitations was never pitched by GPS sellers, but was discovered coincidentally," says Michael LaPlaca, an attorney who specializes in rental car law.

To date, most companies don't use the technology to impose fines, but it can and does happen. American Car Rental, for example, was charging customers in Connecticut $150 each time they topped the speed limit for two minutes at a stretch, claiming it damaged their vehicles. The good news for consumers: Connecticut's Consumer Protection Commission deemed the fines excessive and ordered the rental car agency to refund penalized customers. Last year the state's Supreme Court affirmed the decision. Other states, including New York and California, have passed laws preventing rental car companies from imposing such penalties.

3. "Our prices are etched in sand."Trying to find the best rental deal can be very frustrating, since rates can fluctuate dramatically from day to day, even minute to minute. "Prices are constantly changing," Abrams says. That's because rental car agencies use something called yield-management technology, which continually adjusts pricing depending on how many cars are available. A sudden rash of cancellations or bookings can push rates up or down. When we recently priced an Enterprise rental for a spring trip to Los Angeles, the cost vacillated dramatically: Two hours after we first checked the company's web site, the per-day rate for a full-size car dropped almost $8. Over the next week it continued to yo-yo, ranging from a low of $32 to a high of $73.

Even the way you book can affect prices: When we called the Avis desk at LAX to reserve a minivan, we were quoted a price more than $150 higher than the amount being advertised simultaneously on the company's Web site. Also, online travel agencies like Orbitz or Priceline can have completely different prices. That's why it pays to comparison-shop and check back later to see whether rates have fallen — there's usually no fee to cancel a reservation or rebook at a lower rate.

4. "You probably don't need our insurance."Most companies make reserving and renting a car very easy — until it comes to the issue of insurance. That's where they offer a bewildering array of supplemental coverage, which can easily add $10 to $30 to your daily bill. What the overeager reps won't tell you is that you may already be covered, either partially or completely.
There are two major types of insurance you'll want: a collision/damage waiver and liability. The former covers repair and replacement costs to the car should anything happen to it; the latter protects you from lawsuits if you've injured anyone or damaged property when driving. If you have auto insurance, it usually extends to rental cars, providing both collision/damage and liability, as long as you're on a leisure trip. And many credit cards cover damages to the vehicle but don't offer liability.

As with any type of insurance, it's always more complicated than it seems. "You shouldn't assume you're covered by your credit card," says Jeanne Salvatore, spokesperson for the Insurance Information Institute. Check ahead of time with both your credit card and auto insurance providers to see if, when and how you're covered.

5. "Your reservation doesn't mean bupkis."Andy Parker was looking forward to spending his vacation in February exploring the back roads of Aruba. He even reserved a Jeep with Hertz to handle the rough driving conditions. But when he went to pick it up, he was told all they had on the lot was a sedan. "It was a sore spot," says the Buffalo, N.Y., meteorologist, who got stuck with a small Nissan.

As Parker found out, a reservation isn't a guarantee. The rental agreement is contingent on availability. In fact, you're not reserving a specific car model, but simply a class of car. (One exception: Hertz allows you to reserve high-end models in its "Prestige Collection.") What a reservation actually means is that the company is supposed to have some kind of vehicle on the premises for you to rent. So if you get a smaller car than what you reserved, be sure to ask for a rate adjustment. (Parker got Hertz to take 20% off his bill.)
If the lot is empty, the company is supposed to find you a car even if it means calling another agency and covering the difference. So if the clerk doesn't offer, remind him that the company is liable if you wind up paying more for a rental car elsewhere.

6. "Special orders are our bread and butter."Just like supermarkets, rental car companies bank on getting their customers to do some impulse buying at the checkout counter — where you can now choose from a sizable menu of a la carte amenities and services. The strategy seems to be working: 2005 revenue was up almost 15% since 2003 and at its highest level since 2001.

According to Justin McNaull, a spokesperson for the American Auto Association, a rental vehicle tricked out with extra features could run you $20 more a day. Here's how it breaks down: GPS with turn-by-turn directions costs about $10 a day. Satellite radio, roughly $3 a day. Avis and Budget are rolling out a service that for up to $2 a day will let you pay highway tolls electronically — but that fee doesn't include the tolls themselves. And if you want a baby seat for the minivan, add another $10 a day.

Companies have also begun pushing specialty cars: "It can be a place to make money," McNaull says. Last year Avis inaugurated the "Summer of the Hummer," when it added the H3 to its lots, and even low-priced Thrifty stocks the trendy Dodge Magnum and Chrysler PT Cruiser.

7. "The little guys charge less."If you're like most travelers, you check with a few big car rental agencies and then choose the best deal. But there are hosts of smaller, independent companies that often offer significantly better rates. Good to know, since rental car prices — which have remained relatively flat since 2000 — are beginning to rise again. American Express Business Travel forecasts rental car rate increases of as much as 8% in 2006. That would represent the biggest year-over-year rate hike in a decade.

How to find a good independent rental car agency? Start online with CarRentalExpress.com. On this site you can search more than 300 small car rental firms worldwide, all of which promise to be 15 to 30% cheaper than the large chains. A recent search of the site, for example, turned up a $39 rate for a Saturday rental from EZ Rent A Car, located at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. That's $30 less than what Avis was charging.

8. "We're cutting corners anywhere we can."You may not have noticed, but over the past few years the fine print on rental contracts has not so subtly been changing, even for the industry's best customers. For example, this past winter Hertz shortened the grace period for returning a car from one hour to half an hour for everyone including its #1 Club Gold members; customers also can no longer return a car after a location has closed for the night without incurring a late fee.

In another move to cut corners, rental companies across the board have begun making customers liable for damage caused by so-called acts of God, such as hurricanes and floods. Avis and Budget, the last major holdouts to this policy change, will soon be adding it, even to their frequent renters' contracts. The new rule means it's now up to renters either to return a car before the natural disaster hits, drive the vehicle out of harm's way...or pay up for the newly developed insurance option to cover this type of damage.

9. "Think gas prices are high at the pump? Look what we charge."Even when Brandon Harris is in a hurry, he tries to gas up before returning his rental car. Last spring, when he was on vacation in Costa Rica, he went 15 minutes out of his way to find an open station. "I don't think the rates that [rental agencies] are charging are fair," the Chicago resident says. "It's cheaper to do it yourself."

According to McNaull, rental car companies generally charge more than $5 a gallon for gas. You're paying for the gas plus the luxury of not having to pump it yourself, he says, and not filling up the tank can tack on an additional $20 to your bill. Car rental companies do offer you another option: prepaying for a tank of gas at a more reasonable rate when you pick up the car. Sure, it beats having to worry about finding a station at the last minute, but you're likely not going to return the car empty. "Whatever gas you leave in the tank is a donation to the rental car company," McNaull says. Unless you're tight for time, it still pays to make a pit stop. But when you do fill 'er up on your own, watch out for gas stations right next to the airport since they usually have higher rates. "Stations make a killing on out-of-towners filling up rental cars," McNaull says.

10. "We offer some terrific deals — on Thursdays when the moon is full."Jay Winger thought he had found a great deal. He was planning to use a Budget double-upgrade coupon when he rented a car for his Las Vegas vacation in March. The coupon had been accepted when he made the reservation online, but when he arrived at the rental desk, the agent refused to honor it. Why? At the bottom of the coupon in "really small print," Winger says, it stated that the coupon wasn't valid in all areas. And Las Vegas wasn't one of them. "There are always certain locations that don't take part in national promotions," says Avis Budget Car Rental spokesperson Susan McGowan. Winger wound up spending about $60 more than he had planned. "Renting a car is really tricky," the Minneapolis native says.

On every rental car company Web site, there are ads flaunting the companies' latest deals. Not to mention the paper coupons that appear regularly in newspapers. But there are so many rules and restrictions involved that it's often impossible to get exactly the deal that's being advertised. For starters, some require a Saturday-night stay or a minimum five-day rental. Companies also designate blackout days, exclude popular locations like New York and Las Vegas, and reserve the right to terminate any given offer at any given time. Hertz, for one, reserves the right to revoke its free upgrade special "especially during periods of peak demand," which, given the recent travel boom, should be fairly often.

There is a contrasting platinum grey diffuser built into the rear skirt, along with two S-style oval chrome tailpipes. Aluminium-look door mirrors and a body-colour roof spoiler give added impact to the visual statement.

? Interior: Sporty atmosphere. The interior conveys an atmosphere of sportiness, with materials of the highest quality and painstaking craftsmanship. The elements that dominate the styling are the sports seats with prominent side sections, the black headlining, also available in silver, and the instrument cluster with its special dials and needles.

The pedals, gear knob and air vents are in aluminium look, the inlays are in Piano finish black, or alternatively Aluminium or Fine grain birch wood grey. The red and silver S3 emblem is to be found on the leather sports steering wheel, in the instrument cluster, on the gear knob and on the door sill trims. The seats are upholstered in a combination of cloth and leather or, as an option, in Alcantara/leather or completely in leather. The two-tone leather seats are decorated with stitching in the same colour as their centre section. ? TFSI in its most powerful form. The power plant of the S3 delivers all that is expected of a powerful sports engine, and does it supremely well.

The 2.0 TFSI, which combines direct injection and turbocharger technology, delivers 195 kW (265 bhp) at 6,000 rpm. And at just 2,500 rpm it already musters up an impressive 350 Nm of torque ? this pulling power remains constant up to 5,000 rpm. In the combined driving cycle the 2.0 TFSI displays another welcome character trait, consuming just 9.1 litres of fuel over 100 km ? further proof of the forward-looking efficiency of TFSI technology developed by Audi.

Compared with the A3, this engine is an advanced version which has undergone fundamental changes. The new turbocharger with its enlarged turbine and compressor rotor generates 1.2 bar of boost pressure ? an unusually high figure. A modified intercooler significantly lowers the temperature of the compressed air, thus increasing the air mass necessary for combustion.

Pistons with stronger pins and strengthened connecting rods with new bearings transmit the powerful forces to the crankshaft. The cylinder block has been stiffened up and the head is made of a new, highly heat-resistant alloy.

The exhaust camshaft timing has been adjusted to accommodate the increased power output. High-pressure injectors with an enlarged cross-section squirt the fuel straight into the combustion chamber.

Despite all this progressive engineering, the high-performance turbo weighs in at just 152 kilos, which is less than comparable power plants from direct competitors, and this has a positive effect on the axle load distribution. The compact dimensions of the 2.0 TFSI make it suitable for transverse installation, which brings benefits in terms of the S3?s interior space and luggage capacity.

To go with its sporty nature and firm handling, the new Audi S3 has a six-speed, close-ratio manual gearbox. Gearshift travel has been reduced for the S3, enabling even sportier and more precise gear changes. As is the case for all Audi S models, the new S3 drives all four wheels by means of quattro permanent four-wheel drive. An electronically controlled multi-plate clutch, positioned at the rear for the benefit of weight balance, distributes the torque as needed ? delivering plenty of grip and maximum driving safety. All the components in the drive train have been strengthened to cope with the high level of engine torque.

? Handling: Lightning-fast reactions. In terms of handling, the Audi S3 exhibits all the qualities of a high-performance sports car; it responds immediately to steering movements and achieves high cornering speeds. The innately sophisticated suspension of the A3 ? with subframes front and rear, triangulated lower wishbones at the front and four-link suspension at the rear ? has been further refined. Springs and shock absorbers are stiffer, and the body sits 25 mm lower than an A3 with standard suspension. Aluminium pivot bearings and wishbones reduce the weight of the front suspension. Stiffer suspension mounts and a sportier characteristic for the electro-mechanical steering convey even greater dynamism and precision. 18-inch alloy wheels and 225/40 tyres ensure firm adhesion to the road surface. A 17-inch brake system with sports brake pads ensure maximum deceleration; the black painted callipers bear S3 emblems.

The extras also include a leather steering wheel with flat-bottomed rim and ? in the quattro GmbH range ? folding bucket seats. In the infotainment area, Audi is presenting a new generation of audio systems. The premium package is rounded off by universal interfaces for mobile phone and iPod, plus a sound system from Bose. Standard equipment includes deluxe automatic air conditioning, a driver information system with a new lap-timer function, and an anti-theft alarm. Front fog lights and xenon plus headlights with daytime running lights underline the impressive price/performance ratio. The basic price of the 265 bhp Audi S3 in Germany is EUR 35,150

Paris Hilton Biography

Birth name : Paris Whitney Hilton
Nickname: Star , Princess
Height: 5'9''

Socialite Paris Hilton was born on February 17, 1981 in New York City into the Hilton family and, along with her three younger siblings, is heir-apparent to the vast Hilton hotel and real estate dynasty. Her childhood was spent in palatial dwellings in the priciest neighborhoods on both coasts and featured a brief flirtation with the educational system, including high schooling at the ultra-exclusive Dwight School, from which she dropped out and ultimately earned her high school GED.

Living the glitzy socialite life from a relatively early age, attending exclusive parties and being covered by the gossip press, Hilton apparently became hooked on obtaining celebrity status, which was perhaps furthered by the example of her mother, Kathy Richards, who had a brief acting career herself, mostly on TV. Hilton began a remarkable and well-financed campaign to put herself in the public eye, on screen, on television and in music. This effort has included a substantial amount of physical alteration. A naturally pleasant-looking girl, Hilton underwent extensive plastic surgery, hair coloring and tinted contact lenses in her attempt to reinvent herself as "hot". Sadly, money could not buy alteration of the physical attribute she most dislikes about herself: her exceptionally-large feet.

Some skeptics have guessed that the endless parade of inane inter-celebrity feuds centering around Hilton are, in fact, publicity stunts, another front in the campaign to keep her exposure level high. It has even been argued that the infamous home video of Hilton with then-boyfriend Rick Salomon, in which Hilton performs explicit romantic activities with Rick Salomon, was part of this campaign as well. If it was, it worked. For better or for worse, it made Hilton a household name overnight, and was even widely marketed as a video, 1 Night in Paris (2004) (V).

Eventually Hilton's efforts paid off and she got some modeling work, the designers presumably relying on her notoriety. She has been an increasing presence on-screen too, in TV commercials, on TV series and in the movies, at first bit parts in movies such as Zoolander (2001), Wonderland (2003), The Cat in the Hat (2003) and guest-star roles on TV shows such as "The O.C." (2003) and "George Lopez" (2002), but later more substantial roles in horror flick House of Wax (2005), the direct-to-DVD Bottom's Up (2006) and her own TV show, the fish-out-of-water reality series "The Simple Life" (2003).

Hilton also has plans to become a player in the music business, has recorded an album and even started her own music label, Heiress Records, in order to release it.

Hilton is widely scorned for what some see as her narcissism, shallow intellect and materialism and for other things besides, but she seems to be aware of the old adage that there's no such thing as bad publicity and it should be evident even to her detractors that she is ambitious and driven to achieve, rather than simply basking in her family's vast fortune, as do so many other socialites. In fact, performing is only part of her many activities and she has dabbled in designing, writing (one hastens to add, with a professional writer on the team), nightclub management and even marketing video games - all of which feature Paris Hilton, front and center.

Windows Vista is done

"Microsoft confirms consumer release will be January 30."

After several delays, the long-awaited update to the Windows client OS, Windows Vista, is expected to be on its way to manufacturers Wednesday.

Installations Can Begin

Once Vista is in the hands of manufacturers, hardware vendors can begin installing it and configuring it on computers that will be sold via retail channels beginning in January 2007, according to Microsoft's current schedule.

Microsoft also plans to have Vista in the hands of business customers by the end of November, and is hosting a launch event in New York on Nov. 30 to mark that occasion. The company also will launch Office 2007 and Exchange Server 2007 at that event.

Vista has been a long time in the making, and was originally scheduled to hit retail channels this month in time for the busy holiday shopping season. Microsoft is offering coupons through its hardware channel to encourage customers to buy Vista-ready PCs during that time so they can upgrade to Vista when it's available generally.

PlayStation 3 Goes on Sale

Gamers and entrepreneurs prepared to shell out $500 or more for the new PlayStation 3 console that goes on sale Friday, many of them after waiting in line for days despite the likelihood they'd go home empty-handed.

Sony promised 400,000 PS3 machines for the United States on Friday and about 1 million by year's end. Worldwide, it was expecting 2 million this year, half its original projections. Sony has already delayed the European launch until March.

Brazil's Island Paradise. Fernando de Noronha, Brazil

Fernando de Noronha is a treasure in the midst of the South Atlantic. It falls four degrees below the equator and is roughly 500 kilometres off the northeastern coast of Brazil. It has a tropical climate and is considered the “most important ecological sanctuary”. As Flight RG 2342 began its descent, the passengers peered through the windows trying to get a glimpse of the island. Once on the tarmac, everyone rushed towards the arrival area.

Conversations echoed within this tiny space. It seemed that a majority of the travellers had pre-booked a packaged tour. Alone, the calmness that was shielding any angst slowly began to dissolve. A woman with dark hair that was pulled back tightly checked my passport and determined the amount of tax I owed for visiting Noronha - $96.38 reais. Then, to another queue to pay.

The final destination was baggage claim, where a set of double doors confined me to an overcrowded room where people anxiously awaited their luggage. Ironically, my deep blue backpack arrived almost immediately. It was difficult to bend down and retrieve my belongings, but necessity forced a reaction.

Outside, there were twenty or so bodies clamored together. Most were holding signs with company logos or surnames. It was hopeless scanning any of these because none would result in a match. The next step was unclear. Some intervention was necessary.

The events that unfolded were quick. A case of mistaken identity led to an offer for a room located in Floresta Nova. Those native to the island rented out rooms in their homes for extra income. Within a half hour, a set of keys was in my hand, along with a map. The first order of business was easing the grumbling sounds murmuring inside my stomach. Unfortunately, the village had a large concentration of residences and guesthouses.

Remédios Village was in walking distance and had an array of restaurants. On a backpacker budget, the prices did not coincide with my available funds. The local supermarket was small but included a deli, providing the necessary staples for a good sandwich.

An early night led to an early morning. At a loss as to where to find affordable tours, my only plan was getting the bus and heading to the tourist information office. An independent guide in a dune buggy intercepted me. Although communication was difficult because my Portuguese was not yet conversational, we did reach an agreement.

After renting snorkeling gear, it was off to explore the island. The hiking trail beginning at Quixaba Village was lined with striking trees, tall and lusciously green. It was a short walk to Golfinhos Bay, a lookout point, perched on a cliff. The Atlantic Ocean in this particular spot served as a coupling and resting area for dolphins. We sat on a wooden bench, staring out into the deep blue mass of water that stretched out until it touched the sky.

The Dois Irmaos Mount
We continued forward towards Sancho Bay, the number one ranked beach in Brazil. From afar, it was mesmerizing. Soft gold sand bordered transparent water with a turquoise tint. It appeared unscathed, calm and celestial. Directly above the beach, the distance between the cliff and sea level was almost 40 metres. A ladder, strategically placed between a split rock seemed intimidating, but had less than 20 steps followed by a second one with about ten. Then it was a steep climb down a set of stairs.

On arrival, the water appeared sensually refreshing. There were no sunbathers, each onlooker had accepted the silent invitation of the ocean and was swimming or snorkeling. Naturally, we did the same, entering the ocean to revel in the mystic world created by the reefs. It was surreal; all the fluorescent shades of fish set against a seemingly pure bed of sand, rock and water.

There was one more stop before completing the excursion, Porcos Bay. Set against dark stones, it was just as enticing but difficult to reach. Opposite was the Dois Irmãos Mount, two similar rock formations.

The next day we began another adventure. Again we hiked; this time the weather was a little unstable, as periods of heavy rained forced us to seek protection under bushes. Our destination was Atalaia Beach, which has a natural swimming pool. A national reserve, the area is allowed 100 visitors a day. As it was Sunday, most tours went only until midday. We reached our destination just a little past twelve. A group of twenty people were leaving and the park ranger, my guide’s uncle, advised us that we were the only two left.

A memory that will always withstand time, me, alone again, except for Dave (my guide), swimming through the protected pool. A paradise for the pleasure of one person is such a rare occurrence. On this day, life was perfect.

Take the Clipper from Seattle to explore Victoria, B.C.

VICTORIA, British Columbia- A blue haze crowns the Olympic Mountains as the Victoria Clipper plies Puget Sound, heading from Seattle to Victoria, on the southeastern tip of Vancouver Island, in British Columbia, Canada.

It's a three-hour trip that is as memorable as its destination. Along the way you might see a pod of orca whales, or a bald eagle swooping down to catch a fish, or a sail arcing in the breeze. You'll pass islands, forts and lighthouses that were settled in the early 1800s.

And when you arrive, you'll find yourself in a port city where flowers bloom year-round, and where small delights -- from a tiny store to a three-block Chinatown -- are worth seeking out.
My journey begins after dawn, with the clipper pulling away from a Seattle pier just as the sun hovers over the city's skyline, landmarked by the Space Needle.

The Clipper first passes Bainbridge Island and Point No Point -- home of the oldest lighthouse in Puget Sound. To the east, it passes 46-mile-long Whidbey Island, a former trading post used by the Spanish, the British and the Russians. Today it is a community of artisans.

With Whidbey still on the east, the boat approaches Marrowstone Island on the west, with Fort Flagler on the island's north end.

Next it passes Port Townsend, the only Puget Sound town that didn't start as a sawmill town, then Point Wilson, home to Fort Worden. Fort Worden is the second of three forts -- along with Whidbey's Fort Flager and Fort Casey -- that were constructed in a "triangle of fire" defense pattern during the Spanish-American War.

Ninety minutes into the trip, the Clipper bears northwest and enters the open Strait of Juan De Fuca, aiming straight for Victoria's port.

The city, founded in 1843 by the Hudson Bay Fur Trading Co., is best seen and appreciated on foot or bike. Some tourists will opt for a double-decker bus, horse-drawn carriage or bike-drawn carriage. Still others may want to tour by air or sea -- from a seaplane, chartered boat, high-speed water cruise or even a quaint water taxi that resembles a child's toy as it sits alone in the middle of the harbor against the backdrop of a mountain peak.

Victoria attracts 3.6 million overnight visitors yearly, thanks in part to mild weather. While summer can top out at 90 degrees, temperatures usually stay in the 70s.

The city's signature attractions include the ivy-covered Fairmont Empress Hotel, known for its traditional afternoon tea, and Wharf Street, where you'll hear tourists and residents alike speaking a myriad of languages -- from Chinese dialects to Spanish to German.

Inhale slowly and taste the salty air from the harbor, or get a whiff of seafood cooking in a harborside restaurant like Barb's Place on Fisherman's Wharf. The guestbook at this fish-and-chips eatery shows diners include locals as well as those who've come from as far away as Texas, Wisconsin and Australia.

I nearly overlooked the Smoking Lily store on Johnson Street, advertised as the world's smallest store. What appears to be a display window is really the entire store -- part of an old elevator shaft about 6 feet wide, 4 feet deep and 12 feet high -- stocked with clothing and handbags bearing silkscreen designs.

Victoria is also home to Canada's first Chinatown, dating to 1882. It's one of North America's smallest Chinatowns, about three blocks long, and includes Fan Tan Alley, which claims to be the nation's narrowest street, at about 4 feet wide. The Gate of Harmonious Interest, an entry that spans Fisgard Street, is as inviting as its name.

The city's James Bay section is one of Vancouver Island's oldest residential neighborhoods, featuring restored Victorian and Queen Anne-style homes, including one that once belonged to early 20th century poet and artist Emily Carr. Walking south through James Bay leads to a series of waterside bluffs, and a 2,500-foot breakwater jutting out from a seawall. I take the Clipper to Victoria on average once a year, and James Bay is always my last stop.

From there, it's back to the pier, for another pleasant ferry ride across Puget Sound and home to Seattle.

Banks has expressed her preference for a relationship with a "normal guy" in order to escape the pressures of being together with another well-known celebrity, and the media scrutiny that comes with it. She says she wants a man who "knows how to appreciate natural curves when he sees them."

On May 8, 2006, Tyra Banks was named as one of the world's 100 most influential people in TIME magazine.

Banks recently stated that she would not allow any future photographs of herself to be touched up or digitally enhanced. She will rely solely on make-up and clever hair styling techniques to enhance her beauty naturally.

Mexico is a traveller's paradise

Mexico is a traveller's paradise, crammed with a multitude of opposing identities: desert landscapes, snow-capped volcanoes, ancient ruins, teeming industrialised cities, time-warped colonial towns, glitzy resorts, lonely beaches and a world-beating collection of flora and fauna.

This mix of modern and traditional, the clichéd and the surreal, is the key to Mexico's charm, whether your passion is throwing back margaritas, listening to howler monkeys, surfing the Mexican Pipeline, scrambling over Mayan ruins or expanding your Day of the Dead collection of posable skeletons.

When To Go

Mexico is enjoyable year-round, but October to May is generally the most pleasant time to visit. The May-September period can be hot and humid, particularly in the south, and inland temperatures can approach freezing during December-February. Facilities are often heavily booked during Semana Santa (the week before Easter) and Christmas/New Year, the peak domestic travel periods.

Mexico's climate has something for everyone: it's hot and humid along the coastal plains, and drier and more temperate at higher elevations inland (Guadalajara or Mexico City, for example). Try to avoid Mexico's southern coast between July and September - the resorts are decidedly soggy and jam-packed, as July-August is also the peak holiday months for foreign visitors.

Britney Spears has named her second baby son Jayden James.

CNN reported that Britney Spears has named her second baby son Jayden James — and that, finally, is official.

The September 12 birth certificate, filed with Los Angeles officials this week, was the latest twist in the rumor and secrecy that marked the arrival of the once publicity-hungry pop star’s second baby.

Not only was the birth at a Los Angeles hospital never officially announced by Spears or her husband Kevin Federline, but sources close to the couple led the world’s media to believe that the boy had been named Sutton Pierce.

For weeks beforehand, the tabloid media was sure the former teen pop sensation was expecting a girl. Celebrity magazines had Spears stocking up on pink baby clothes and reported she planned to name the child Jamilyn after her younger sister Jamie and her mother Lynne.

But the official birth certificate records that Jayden James Federline was born September 12 at Cedars Sinai hospital in Los Angeles. Jayden, who at six weeks has yet to make his public picture debut, was born two days before the first birthday of Spears’ first son, Sean Preston.

Argus Car Rental the best resource to rent a car

I just returned last week from 10 days in Ireland. I had been planning this trip for quite awhile and visited many websites looking for good deals on car rentals. I am not sure how I came across Argus, but I am glad I did for several reasons:

1. The rental cost of the car was substantially less than what I had found on any other web site.
2. Your explanation of the terms of the contract were easy to read and understand.
3. Your costs included the CDW insurance.
4. And this one made me smile: when I arrived in Shannon and proceed to the Budget counter to pick up my car there was no one else in line. But at the Hertz counter there was a line of at least 20 people!!!

Seeing the line at the Hertz counter confirmed for me that people are getting ripped off by most of the travel websites.

I will ALWAYS use Argus now for my travel needs and will recommend it to everyone I know who travels!

Thank you very much for your excellent service !

Poll: 74 percent of Americans say Congress out of touch

Just weeks before crucial midterm elections, a new poll says nearly three quarters of Americans see Congress as out of touch, much as they did in 1994, the last time the minority party took control of Capitol Hill.

Seventy-four percent of respondents to a new Opinion Research poll say Congress is generally out of touch with average Americans. That's up from 69 percent who agreed with that view in a January poll this year.

In 1994, 75 percent of respondents to a CNN poll also said Congress was out of touch. Voters then proceeded to vote out Democrats in both the House and the Senate, a sweep that hadn't been seen in the House since 1952. Recent polls have suggested increased voter interest in this election, as growing unpopularity over the U.S.-led war in Iraq and scandals in Congress have boiled over into the political arena.

The GOP's hold on power in Congress is slim. Democrats need only a net gain of 15 seats to retake the House and six to control the Senate. Political watchers say those majorities, especially the one in the House, may be threatened.

According to the poll, 58 percent of respondents said they believe most members of Congress are focused on special interests, and 38 percent said the legislators pay more attention to constituents.

Chasing the American dream

Belief in the so-called "American dream," according to the poll, appears to be split between college graduates and people without college degrees. Sixty percent of respondents who had no college degree said it's impossible for most people to achieve the American dream, while only 38 percent of grads said so.

Nearly half of the 506 people surveyed on that topic said they have just enough money to maintain their standard of living, while 26 percent contended they are falling behind. Less than a quarter, or 23 percent, said they are getting ahead.

More than half, or 54 percent, agreed that the American dream has become impossible for most people to achieve. Forty-five percent disagreed, and the rest had no opinion. Those numbers were roughly the same in results from a poll in January 2003 -- almost two years before President Bush won re-election.

Cancun bounces back to business

CANCUN, Mexico -- Carl Johnson said his heart missed a beat when he saw the beach outside his Cancun timeshare.

He was expecting little sand a year after the resort was savaged by the most intense Atlantic hurricane on record. But what he saw took him by complete surprise.

His patch of golden-white sand had tripled in size, stretching a gaping 140 feet (40 meters) toward the crystal-clear Caribbean water.

"After the initial shock, I just burst out laughing. It is so weird when you are used to seeing something and then it completely changes," said Johnson, a 50-year old aircraft mechanic from Chicago.

Cancun's new beach, built by pumping 96 million cubic feet (2.9 million cubic meters) of sand from the ocean floor, is the highlight of an extreme makeover the resort has gone through since it was punished by Hurricane Wilma on Oct. 21, 2005.

Mexican tourist officials are promoting their Caribbean haven as being fully revamped and made bigger, better and more glitzy than it was before Wilma. Public and private investment for the rebuilding has totaled $1.5 billion they say.

In many aspects, the reconstruction has been a Herculean success, letting most tourists enjoy their holidays oblivious to the destruction that wracked the resort a year ago. Bikini-clad sun bathers line the beaches, honeymooning couples sip margaritas in hotel pools and crowds of red-faced revelers croak karaoke songs down at Senor Frog's disco.

But the devastating power of Wilma wrought some damage that could not possibly be fixed within 12 months, and signs of the wreckage can still be found in corners of the Caribbean retreat.

Wilma came with little warning, swelling from a tropical storm to a Category 5 hurricane in under 24 hours, then pounding Cancun for two days and nights, felling roofs, hurling palm trees and submerging streets in stinking flood water.

When the storm finally retreated, an 8-mile (12-kilometer) stretch of beach was almost completely washed away, exposing a line of ragged rocks.
However, worldwide beach erosion has led to rapid advances in the techniques for its reclamation, and Belgian company Jan de Nul made Cancun a showcase for its newest technology.

Two ships sucked up sand 20 miles (32 kilometers) off the Mexican coast, carried it to the shore and used colossal pipes to lay down half a mile (a kilometer) of beach a week.

"The white beaches are what Cancun is all about. So we wanted to make sure we were getting that same silky sand that people love, and a lot more of it than before," said Patricia Lopez of Cancun's Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The new beach is an average of 140 feet (40 meters) wide, compared to an average of 70 feet (20 meters) before Wilma, officials say.

The resort's avenues have been lined with 6,000 new, full-grown palm trees and almost all the shops and restaurants have reopened.

However, there are still sporadic construction sites in the row of nearly 100 towering hotels that fill the Cancun skyline.

In October, about 10 percent of the hotels were still having work done, with the last scheduled to be finished by the end of 2007.

Diana Cedillo, 43, of Laredo, Texas, booked a room next to a hotel crawling with construction workers. But she said the work didn't bother her.

"I haven't heard a thing. And as there are no tourists in the next-door hotel, then our bit of beach is that bit more exclusive," she said, sunbathing on a tranquil stretch of sand.
However, Scott Gardner said his parents came to the Cancun Palace to find it was under construction and were shipped off down the coast to the Moon Palace.

"It's a bit of a pain because I have a 45-minute drive from my time-share to be with them," said Gardner, 39, of Washington D.C.

Some resorts used the opportunity to remodel and upgrade their premises. The Ritz Carlton invested $15 million to expand the size of its rooms, add tennis courts and build a culinary center before opening in September.

"We thought that if we are going to rebuild, then let's make it better. If it takes 11 months, then so be it," said marketing director Rafael Vazquez.

Wilma has also left scars in the nearby jungle. Thousands of trees were ripped out of the ground and thrown into dense piles that exploded into forest fires during the summer heat. Environmentalists say the woodland will take decades to fully recover.
Yet there are still millions of acres of jungle for tourists to visit, and the forest's Mayan ruins were untouched.

The biggest problem remaining for the tourist industry is a lack of cruise ship piers on the nearby island of Cozumel, one of the world's busiest cruise ports. For now, the big ships will be moored offshore, with most visitors ferried into ports on smaller boats.
One of the main piers should be finished by the end of the year, and the other will be completed sometime in 2007, officials said.

Tourists have responded well to the rebuilding of Mexico's Caribbean coast, with their numbers rising dramatically as the spring and summer months went on.

By August, Cancun hotels were filled to 79 percent capacity, a drop from the 86 percent in 2005, but an encouraging number under the circumstances.

Cancun resident Maria Ortiz, 41, says those who live there deserve some of the credit. Ortiz joined thousands of residents in cleaning garbage off the streets after Wilma, and she then helped with construction at the hotel where she normally works as a chef.

"All we have here is tourism. That is what we all live by," Ortiz said. "So we gave everything to get those tourists back. We all wanted to make Cancun live again."

WHEN TO GO: High season begins in mid-December and lasts until about May, which is also the dry season. Rates are normally cheaper during the summer and fall, but you also risk hurricanes and tropical storms.

OTHER ATTRACTIONS: The nearby resorts of Playa del Carmen, Isla Mujeres, Tulum and Cozumel suffered some damage during the storm, but all have mostly recovered. The region's famous coral reefs were also hit hard by the storm, and it will be years before they recover fully.

ANNOYANCES: The area has suffered from a recent locust invasion, and the bugs can be found in and around Cancun.

GETTING AROUND: Public buses shuttle guests between hotels, restaurants, shopping and the airport. Taxis and car rentals are an easy, faster option. Roads are well-paved, and it is usually easy for foreigners to find their way around.

Virus wormed into some iPods

NEW YORK- Some of Apple Computer Inc.'s iPod digital music players shipped in the past month carry a computer virus, according to a posting on Apple's technical support Web site.

Apple said since September 12, less than 1 percent of Video iPods -- pocket-sized devices that can play music files and video clips -- left its contract manufacturer carrying the virus RavMonE.exe, which affects computers running Microsoft Corp.'s Windows operating system.
"So far we have seen less than 25 reports concerning this problem. The iPod nano, iPod shuffle and Mac OS X are not affected, and all Video iPods now shipping are virus free," the company said on the site.

Apple said the virus can be detected and removed using many popular anti-virus software programs.

Representatives for Apple and Microsoft were not available to comment further Wednesday morning.

Audi RS6 2007

Audi is completing the A6 range with the RS6 as an direct competitor to BMW’s M5. Don’t get fooled by the S6 stickers on this Audi. This is the brand new and still secret RS6. The bigger air intakes in the front bumper and the two big oval exhaust pipes are the key clues. While the S models have four round exhaust pipes, the RS models have two oval pipes as their distinguishing feature. Shown in these spy photos is the Avant (station wagon), but it will also be available as a saloon. Powered by the same V10 engine as the S6, but with some help from a turbo delivering about 520-550 bhp, this Audi will give the M5 and E63 AMG a strong challenge.

The RS6 will debut in Geneva in March 2007

Madonna may face challenge to adoption

US pop diva Madonna is under fire in Britain for her plans to adopt an African toddler, with her toughest critics dismissing her as a selfish star who could do much more to ease world poverty.

Human rights groups may seek a court order in Malawi today to stop Madonna from adopting a one-year-old boy, reported Reuters. Eye of the Child, the leading child advocacy group in Malawi, said a legal challenge would be filed in a magistrate's court in the capital, Lilongwe.

Last week the entertainer and her husband Guy Ritchie were granted custody of the boy, David Banda.

To adopt 13-month-old David Banda, Madonna benefited from a fast-track adoption regime after spending nine days in Malawi and visiting several orphanages, British media reported.
