Tara Conner will continue her reign as Miss USA 2006

Rumors swirled on the Web Thursday that Tara Conner, Kentucky's Miss USA, would be stripped of her crown.

The gossip started after an entertainment Web site, TMZ.com, reported that pageant officials met to discuss alleged inappropriate behavior, including Conner's conduct at bars.

Conner's father, John Conner, said Thursday that he thinks his daughter "absolutely" will continue to be Miss USA.

"I just know what's on the media," he said, adding that he had not talked to his daughter as of midday Thursday. "I'm proud of my daughter and I stand by her 100 percent."

He said he had "no idea" what personal issues his daughter might be having.

Tara Conner, 20, of Russell Springs, was crowned Miss USA in April and was fourth runner-up in the Miss Universe pageant on July 23. She has worked with organizations benefiting women's health, served as a guest judge on Bravo's fashion reality show Project Runway and appeared on the University of Kentucky's hockey poster, wearing only a jersey and her crown.

December 19, 2006 ; Donald J. Trump said on a statement: ''Tara Conner will continue her reign as Miss USA 2006. However, her duties will be limited as she receives the help she needs during this personal time. We are pleased that Tara will continue to be a part of Miss Universe family and will continue her responsibilities at the appropriate time''.
